Good GOD,  I'm horrible about posting in this thing.

Cut me a little bit of slack:  I just got back from studying abroad for a month and a half in Sierra Leone, West Africa.  Returning to the needles has been an absolute thrill for me, after all that time spent yarnless.  I've got startitis in the worst possible way:  FOUR new WIPs, all cast on within the last week.

Check out Ravelry for full details.

For hitchhikers, hitchhikers-in-training, hoopy froods, foreign visitors, immigrants, transients, aliens, ex-members of Disaster Area, drunks, dolphins, or other Douglas Adams die-hards.

Join us in knitting/crocheting our very own towels, in preparation for Towel Day (May 25th) 2008!

The knitting will commence April 25th, 2008, at 12:01 A.M. Due date: 11:59 p.m., May 24th, 2008.

Be sure to post pictures of your WIPs, your FOs, yourself, and whatever revelry you and your towel participate in on the Big Day!

Do YOU know where YOUR towel is? :D

Join the Ravelry group NOW!  It's listed under "Towel Day K-A-L 2008."

I decided, spur-of-the-moment, to forsake my illusion-knit towel concept for a double-knit towel, in lime green and black, with both "Don't Panic" and the classic HHGTTG symbol knit into it.

Chart #1, for those who care, and for those who'd like to use it in their own projects:

9:11 am - First serious post in the new blog!
All right. So, after allowing this blog to languish on the proverbial needles for the past several months, I'm thinking it's time to start taking it seriously. Most of the content that would normally be posted in my other blog, under Fordthe1337, will now be posted here, under a Friends Only heading; otherwise, this blog will be open to Ravelry as a knitting blog.

Wish I had more to post about, for my first morning of serious crafty bloggingness.

WIPs:

The Brittany Sweater
Pattern = Kate Gilbert's "A Cardigan for Arwen"
Yarn = Cascade 220 Wool in "Ruby" and "Black"

Rainbow Afghan
Pattern = Susan B.'s "Easy Ripple Afghan"
Yarn = Red Heart Super Saver, in dye lots I haven't bothered to keep track of!

Satan Sucks Illusion Scarf
Pattern = My own
Yarn = Caron Simply Soft in "Bright Purple" and "Yellow"

The Brittany sweater is complete and absolute folly, at this point. S'not gonna work. But, by God, there's fight left in me yet, damn it!

Someone should really just hit me.

1.  The Cricket scarf is DONE.  It's been done for over a week now, but I don't have a camera at the moment.  Pictures will undoubtedly be posted, when a camera becomes available.

2.  Current works in progress:  the massive rainbow crocheted afghan I've been toying with for months, another illusion scarf (in purple and yellow this time, for Becky), and a cabernet-and-ebony garter stitch scarf made with a really fun eyelash yarn called "Boa," which I got for a buck a skein on Michael's clearance.

3.  Things to learn by year's end:  Entrelac, short rows, cables, and Tunisian crochet.

4.  This is my reminder to myself to post a list of holiday gifts, so I don't forget anything.  Actually, why not do that now?

Becky = "Satan Sucks" illusion scarf in purple and yellow
Cricket = Cricket illusion scarf in gray and black (DONE)
Brittany = Phedre's Marque illusion scarf in black and deep red
Anna = IT'S A SURPRISE (since she actually seems to read this thing)
Gina = Felted initial purse in black and hunter green
Kristen = Penguin slippers!
Yuji = "Gorillaz Rule" beanie and slippers
Mum = "Sweetheart" sweater in black and pale pink, if time allows
Sasha = Quick-and-dirty Ravenclaw scarf?
Nikky = Mime-face illusion scarf in black and white
Teebsy = Punk Skulls illusion scarf in black and purple

5.  Somewhere in there, find time to finish the damnable afghan.  It's half done anyway.

Further progress on said scarf. Once again, these are somewhat back-posted. The scarf itself is actually nearing completion: these were taken a few weeks ago.

From above. It's a little difficult to see the stripes; the lighting was really bad.

A little lower. The camera was slightly tilted, so you can see a little bit of the image.

I've made considerable progress on this project since these pictures were taken, but it just occurred to me that I hadn't posted them yet. This is Cricket's illusion scarf, complete with cricket face.

Here's the scarf from above:

And here it is again in profile.

I drew up the pattern in Excel. In case you can't tell what the design on the scarf is supposed to be--it IS only half a face, after all--this is what the pattern's supposed to look like. I designed it myself, so it's a little sketchy, but I think it'll be effective from a distance.

I'll post pictures of the project's current state of completion, as soon as I track my camera down.

First entry in the new blog!

Can't wait to have something to actually post about.

Right now, I've got a lot more works in progress than I do completed pieces.  I'm working on a huge, 8x9 foot afghan in rainbow patchwork (double crochet), a pair of devil pants knit out of S&B Nation, an illusion scarf for my buddy Cricket with his logo on in black and silver, the Sweetheart sweater out of Domiknitrix for me mummy's Christmas gift...too many things, and not enough time in which to complete them.

May as well upload my To-Knit list, so you guys can see my plans for the future:

Out of S&B #1:
Alien Illusion Scarf
Hot Head Hat
Punk Rock Backpack
Powerful Wrist Protection
Pippi Kneestockings
Skully

Out of Domiknitrix:
